mourner Now that I found out that Kråbøl is worthy of being called a mastermind of black metal after my taste I had to get this, too. And what a great first (?) output from him and all Misotheist this is! Addictive af. Favorite track: Beast And Soil.

David Fischer Albeith I enjoy the highly praised For the Glory of Your Redeemer very much, I like Misotheist's s/t even more. While not emanating the dissonant melancholy of its successor, it is far from being less great and instead conveys its very own, intriguing vibe. All three tracks are remarkably good, still Beast and Soil is the clear centrepiece. From its inception, the whole song builds up to an absolute god-tier performance near the end. If this was released in 2022, it would be on my year-end list. Favorite track: Beast And Soil.

rvss.eel Black Metal with a beautifully dark production that allows for the melodies to rise into the light just enough to distinguish these songs as excellent. They do not veer far from what is expected of the genre, and in cases like this I consider that a strength. Aggression, melody, and killer dynamics on all three tracks make this a very memorable listen. I'm very glad to see the hype around Misotheist's second album, but I still think this one is better. Favorite track: Beast And Soil.

Choco Latte As far as I can Google, there is almost no information about Misotheist, other than they're from Norway. Their black metal is frill and gimmick free and it just speaks for itself. Favorite track: Carriers Of Captivity.

about

BLACK METAL from Trondheim, Norway.
With no shortage of bands striving for anonymity purely for imagery and the sake of being “mysteriious”, draped in cloth from top to toe, there are still those who prefer lurking in the shadows without documenting it on various social media platforms.

With nothing from the past to reference, with no egos up front and center, and with no previous bands to name drop, Misotheist has only the music to showcase - which speaks for itself. Striking out from the darkness like a razor sharp knife, this sonorous and merciless first release leaves a compulsion for more.

Released by Terratur Possessions exclusively. Comes with A2 poster, gatefold and glued booklet.
Design by Kontamination Design, artworks by Izzy.
